To understand the value of Dietzler Farms, it is important to know how we are different from conventional, organic, and other local beef.
Our steers and heifers are raised to a very high standard. Our animals are never given any antibiotics or artificial growth hormones. The animals always have access to pasture and consume only grass and naturally raised non-genetically modified grain.
Conventional beef that is found at a common grocer or restaurant is usually raised in feedlots that apply mass antibiotics and growth hormones. The antibiotics are used preventatively to be sure none of the animals become ill while in such tight spaces. Growth hormones are given to the animals to gain weight very quickly.
Dietzler Farms does not use any antibiotics or growth hormones for our beef steers. We believe in humane treatment, so if an animal does fall ill, we isolate it and treat it, but it is sold off to market or another local farm as a treated animal. It is never sold under the Dietzler Farms label.
According to the USDA, organic beef must be fed 100% organic feed and never given any antibiotics or growth hormones. At Dietzler Farms, we grow our own non-genetically modified corn and soybeans for the animals feed, but our land is not certified organic.
We have invested in our animals’ genetics, to be sure that the animals consistently yield premium beef. Consistency is key to our operation and the steers and heifers usually grade high choice or prime. Other local farms and conventional operations generally raise animals for efficiency and fast weight gain. Dietzler Farms raises animals for quality steaks, burgers and roasts.
Dietzler Farms’ animals are raised from birth to harvest with the goal of healthy, well-marbled and tender beef.
